Jarmin is a consultant ecologist with experience in surveying and reporting on flora, fauna and vegetation communities of the ACT, Southern Tablelands of NSW and broader NSW tablelands in a consulting context. Jarmin has undertaken and led ecological surveys and assessment of vegetation communities and floristic values across a wide variety of projects for private, government and research-focussed clients ranging from small private developments and monitoring projects to state-significant renewable energy and transport infrastructure developments.

Jarmin’s skills are primarily focussed on vegetation/flora assessment in the ACT and the NSW tablelands and western slopes, as well as general flora and hollow-bearing tree assessments due to his significant past experience in arboriculture and his keen interest in native vegetation assessment and landscape ecology. He has performed a range of flora surveys, including mapping of plant communities to ACT and NSW plant community types, assessment of plant communities against EPBC/BC/NC Act threatened ecological community thresholds and planning and execution of threatened flora surveys for a range of species. He has also undertaken a variety of fauna surveys including deployment of camera traps and ANABAT acoustic/ultrasonic recorders, various woodland bird and raptor survey methodologies, and surveys for Koala, Striped Legless Lizard, Pink-tailed Worm-lizard, Golden Sun Moth, Grassland Earless Dragon and other threatened fauna species.

Jarmin is proficient in the preparation of a variety of consultant reports including Biodiversity Development Assessment Reports (BDAR), Ecological Impact Assessments (EIA), Ecological Values Constraints Assessments (EVCA), and various management plans and monitoring reports. Jarmin has also been involved in the development of Biodiversity Stewardship Site Assessment Reports (BSSAR).
