With well-honed botanical and zoological survey skills, expertise in GIS and data analysis and expert knowledge of the issues and threats relevant to the biota of the ACT and broader region, the Capital Ecology team offers innovative and consistently dependable solutions.
With fully equipped 4WD vehicles and recovery-trained staff, Capital Ecology can confidently and safely access remote or difficult to access sites. Capital Ecology owns all standard ecological survey equipment as well as many specialist items. With trained personnel and access to a fully equipped workshop, Capital Ecology can also design and construct survey equipment to test novel or experimental survey techniques.

With over seventeen years of experience in ecology and environmental management, the last fifteen of which have been as a consulting ecologist, Robert brings a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience to each Capital Ecology project.

Senior Ecologist
Sam is experienced in assessing the ecology of the ACT and Southern Tablelands of NSW, and has done so in both the public and private sector. He has completed, contributed to, and managed numerous ecological assessments projects during his career.
Dr Catherine Ross BSc (Hons), PhD (Ecology)
Consultant Ecologist
Catherine is a consultant ecologist with experience in flora and fauna ecology, conservation and management. She has experience working in academic, government and not-for-profit roles across a range of projects in reserves and agricultural landscapes in the ACT and south-east NSW.
Jarmin Thornberry BSc, DipSc
Consultant Ecologist
Jarmin is a consultant ecologist with experience in surveying and reporting on flora, and vegetation communities of the ACT, Southern Tablelands of NSW and broader NSW tablelands. Jarmin has led ecological surveys and assessments for diverse projects including private developments, monitoring, and state-significant infrastructure.
Lucy Wenger PhB (Science) (Hons)
Ecologist
Lucy is an ecologist with over five years of experience in flora and fauna ecology, environmental restoration, conservation and management. She has worked in academia, not-for-profit and consulting roles, focusing on projects in agricultural landscapes and reserves across ACT, NSW Southern Tablelands, South-Western Slopes and Riverina.
Jamie Barney BSc, DipSc, CertIVEnvSc
Ecologist / Spatial Ecologist
Jamie is Capital Ecology’s Spatial Ecologist with two years of consultancy experience and three years conservation experience with the ACT Government. Jamie is proficient in identifying native an exotic flora and fauna in the ACT and Southern Tablelands. He also excels in advanced geospatial analysis for accurate vegetation mapping, assessing threatened species habitat, and documenting threatened species.
